Finding somewhere to have a drink in Edinburgh, or as the Scots say “have a wee swallie”, is one of the easiest things to do; regardless of whether you want a quiet drink in a local, a sophisticated wine bar or a full-blown ‘anything goes’ party.

Transport in and around Edinburgh
In keeping with its status as the capital city of Scotland, Edinburgh has excellent transport links. Ironically two of the most famous links - The Forth Road Bridge and The Forth Rail Bridge - are actually about 5 km north-west of the city.

Social aspects of living in Edinburgh
With a population around 450,000, Edinburgh is the second largest city in Scotland by population. It covers an area of over 25,900 hectares giving a population density of nearly 17 people per hectare.
